TABLOID Press co-founders Zoe Darsee and Nat Marcus read new and selected poetic works.

TABLOID Press is a textual platform initiated in 2014. Its activities encompass book design, documentation, and poetry workshops, in addition to its role as a press for art and poetry publications. TABLOID is intended to stimulate and integrate poetic environments within social communities.

Echo Bücher carries TABLOID’s most recent publication, Spiritual World Tour (Marcus, 2017), which is as much a poetry collection as a visual tract, a pilgrim’s diary, an enquiry into capital and house music. Small lyric essays on the diaspora of Chicago house intersect with a translation that links a medieval Latin hymn to the bootleg of Larry Heard’s “Can You Feel It”, and the entire book is peppered with record labels – shifting focus to the design and textuality of these objects, paying homage to producers such as Theo Parrish, Chicago Skyway, Frankie Knuckles and Fresh & Low.

Other recent publications of TABLOID include M. Elizabeth Scott’s collection of poems “Dumb Supper” (book design by Darsee and Marcus, 2017), a collection of 10 water pics and 1 poem by Dion James – “cigcatx@tabloidpress” (book design by Darsee, 2016), and Darsee’s “16 Poems” (2016). Darsee and Marcus’ work has been featured on Berlin Art Link, DIS, Gramma, Grüppe Magazine, and Novembre Magazine.
