To accompany his upcoming album Tristes Tropiques, Andrew Pekler has created a one hour video installation that takes the viewer on a journey through the abstracted forms of exotic jungle flora accompanied by highly manipulated field recordings. Inspired by Claude Lévi-Strauss’ book of the same name, Tristes Tropiques is a work of synthetic exotica, pseudo-ethnographic music and artificial audio documentary. For the opening of the installation at Echo Bücher Andrew Pekler will perform a special live audio/video set. Jan Jelinek, whose Faitiche label will be releasing Tristes Tropiques in October, will also play a DJ set.
